The kingdom of heaven is like a merchant. The kingdom of heaven is searching for fine pearls. Upon finding one pearl of great value, heaven gave up Jesus, its beloved, its most valuable, all it had, in order to purchase, a pearl of great value…the man, made in the image and likeness of God, bearing his spirit is that pearl.
Jesus would have been offered up for just one precious man bearing God’s likeness…a rare find these days.
Heaven sees men as pearls; costly, beautiful, rare pearls, made out of sand and grit. We are tiny pieces of dust, trapped in a space. We are irritants and afflictions. In dark spaces we are covered with what feels like a heaviness, again and again and again and again, and we feel as if we are disappearing, but in the end we are fine and beautiful and valuable to God. We are hidden away protected in a deep dark expanse, until, an opportune time. Perhaps, until the shell we are in dies and opens, and because heaven is searching for us!
Matthew 13:45-Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it
when you are feeling worthless and dark and overwhelmed and unseen, picture yourself not as you are, but as you will be. A pearl of great value searched for and purchased with all the wealth of heaven.
